Overview
The Dodital Trek is renowned for its pristine freshwater lake, nestled in the Barahat Range of the western Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand. This trek is a favorite among adventurers, with many choosing to start their journey either from Hanuman Chatti or via Barsu, passing through the scenic Dayara Bugyal. The tranquil waters of Dodital Lake, along with the nearby Devi temple, offer a perfect setting for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. During the trek, you might spot the Himalayan trout, also known as Mahseer, in the lake’s clear waters. This region of the Himalayas, located below the towering peaks of the Greater Himalayan range, is characterized by lush greenery, with dense forests of oak and rhododendron trees.
The final 2-3 kilometers leading to the lake are particularly thrilling, as the path winds through multiple mountain folds, adding to the adventure. A short but rewarding hike from Dodital Lake leads to Darwa Top, from where the trail crosses over into the Yamunotri valley, eventually meeting at Hanuman Chatti. The trek also offers breathtaking views of majestic peaks such as Draupadi ka Danda, Deonli, and Srikantha, making it a truly memorable experience.

Trek Plan
Arrive at Jolly Grant Airport by 9 AM. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by vehicles ready to transport you directly to Kuflon Basics, which is located 11 kilometers from Uttarkashi, nestled in the serene Assi Ganga Valley. The drive will take around 6-7 hours.
Begin your trek to Bevra, an 8-kilometer journey that typically takes around 4-5 hours. Bevra, located 1.5 kilometers beyond the village of Agoda, is an ideal campsite. Once there, you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the nearby stream to rejuvenate yourself after the day's trek.
Start the day with an early breakfast before embarking on a gradual ascent to Dodital, a trek that spans approximately 7 hours. Carry a packed lunch with you as you navigate the trail lined with Rhododendron and Oak trees, and spot the occasional Seabuckthorn bush along the way.
Today's trek to Darwa Pass, which stands at an altitude of 4150 meters, covers around 5 kilometers and takes about 2-3 hours. The route is entirely uphill, starting with a climb alongside the stream that feeds into Dodital, leading through a dense Birch forest, and eventually opening up into expansive high-altitude meadows. Upon reaching the pass, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Bandarpunch mountain range. For those seeking an extra challenge, an ascent to Darwa Top is an option, while others can descend to set up camp at Kanasar, situated at 3900 meters below the pass.
The trek continues with a long traverse through the meadows, offering stunning vistas of the Bandarpunch peaks. This route will lead you to the picturesque grazing grounds of Seema, a tranquil spot surrounded by natural beauty.
Today, you'll begin your descent, passing through dense forests until you reach the campsite at Kandoli. This location is known for its summer houses and serene environment, making it a perfect spot to unwind.
On the final day, you'll trek for about 3 hours to reach Hanumanchatti, where the roadhead is located. From there, a 6-hour drive will take you back to Dehradun Airport, where you can catch your flight home.
