Kedarkantha peak, situated in the mountains of the tons river valley is a beautiful ridge peak; easily accessible anytime of the year. In the winters it snows in this valley and hence views from the summit are very rewarding. The trek goes through the Govind national park and gives you ample time to soak in the flora and fauna of this protected area. The summit lies at an altitude of 3850m and reaching the Kedarkantha summit is very satisfying as you are rewarded with views of peaks like the Swargarohini, Banderpooch, Black peak and Ranglana.

TENTATIVE ITINERARY
Dehradun to Sankri (1920 m) – by road, 7-8 hrs, 210 km
The drive to Sankri passes through Mussoorie and the villages of Naugaon, Sauli, Purola and Netwar. The road runs alongside the Yamuna till Sauli. At Sauli, the road takes a left towards Purola. After a short distance, the road runs parallel to Tons, which is a tributary of Yamuna, for a while. After Netwar, we enter Govind Pashu Vihar National Park. The stretch of the drive to Sankri is through the forest. Night stay will be arranged in a guest house in Sankri.
Sankri to Juda Tal (2600 m) – 5 hrs, 5 km
Juda Tal to Kedarkantha base (3290 m) – 3 hrs, 5 km
Kedarkantha base to peak and back – 7 hrs, 7 km
Kedarkantha base to Sankri (1920 m) – 5 hrs, 8 km
Sankri to Dehradun – by road, 7-8 hrs, 210 km
